Itinerary, Day One:

Before I begin to share the Itinerary from our Most Excellent Adventure...I realized I forgot to give you the lift off date! On Sunday, May 9th, we will be boarding a bus in Lansing to shuttle us to Detroit Metro Airport. We will fly to Newark to make our connecting flight to Shannon Airport, in Shannon, Ireland. Funny huh? Im taking Shannon to Shannon Airport. You'd think we were Irish or something. snort.

Now onto our Itinerary:

We will be landing in Ireland, getting our car and heading north to the town of Doolin. We expect that we will be somewhat jet lagged, as it will be the middle of the night our time, but we are also expecting to be excited and we think we'd rather go somewhere than waste anytime hanging around doing nothing! So it really is only a couple of hours drive from the Airport. I'm sure the drive will be a bit of an adventure on its own. The cars are little...and manual transmission. That's right..I will, after 20 years, be back to driving a stick shift. If that weren't funny enough to me..I have to drive on the left side of the road, with my gear shift on the left side of the driver. Me. Did I mention the roads are one lane? And apparently there is no problem..until there is oncoming traffic. Someone, know one really knows who, decides to pull off the road..which does not contain a shoulder, and one gets to drive on through. I am reminded of the game chicken. It is possible that I will defer to all ongoing traffic and it will take us a little longer to get there..but 2 hours is the plan!

Doolin is known for several things and more than we can see in one day. We are going to focus on 3 of those things, the Cliffs of Moher, the Burren and their traditional music. Doolin is the place to be if you want to get into a pub (Ireland's pubs are more like our diners. A family meeting place.) that features traditional Irish music.

The Cliffs of Moher have two ways to be viewed..from the top looking down..or from the bottom, in a boat, looking up. We have yet to decide and are happy to hear your opinions and suggestions!

Next stop, The Burren:

The Burren is a spot I'm anxious to get my camera on.The barrenness of it..the cragginess. You may not be aware of the word cragginess. But it is a word. Trust me.

Then on to find the best liv//e music! Here's a good start at McDermott's Pub!

Day two to be posted tomorrow. I'm sure you'll be waiting with bated breath.
